Can you tell us a bit about your book?
My book is called Breaking the Surface. Here’s the summary of the book: After suffering a severe trauma, Brianna struggles to create a life with the man of her dreams. She is haunted by her past, and by a nameless, faceless little girl. She strives to hold on to her sanity and her life as she and her new family navigate one terrifying event after another. After fleeing from all she knows and loves she is forced to make a new home in a new state. She is able to relax a little until evil finds her again. The faceless girl that had scared her so much has found Brianna in hiding as well. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? No. I have to say that I am very happy with the way the book turned out.
How did you come up with the title?
It popped in my head one day, and it stuck. I liked the visual that went with the title.
Are you working on any current projects?
I’m working on the sequel to Breaking the Surface, Room to Breathe, and I have another project that tackles the problem of bullying.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated? I took a class in high school that involved a lot of writing, and I loved it. That’s where it started.
What inspired you to write your first book?
One day I sat down to write, and the book just came to me as I was writing. It took lots of twists and turns along the way, but writing this book was an amazing journey.
What has your journey as an author been like so far?
It’s been amazing. I still can’t believe that I have written a book that’s out there for the world to see. There have been tears and hair pulling, but overall the journey has been incredible!
What is it about writing that makes it worth wild to you personally?
Writing is a cathartic experience. It helps me to purge my feelings in a constructive way. I also love every aspect of writing. It’s fun, exciting, and to be able to create a new world and characters is thrilling.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
Without a doubt, Tim Flanagan is my favorite author. He can create fictional worlds that seem so real it’s unbelievable. His story lines are unique, and each one is a thrill to read.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
She’s not new, but she’s not as well known as she should be. L.A. Jones is a great author. She wrote The Tales of Aradia series.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Keep at it. Never give up on your dreams. Hard work and determination will pay off.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I would want them to know that I appreciate them giving an unknown author a chance. I hope you enjoy my book, and I will work my hardest to give you the kind of books you deserve to read.
